Ashes on the Sea Vessel Types

Ashes on the Sea has vessels in our fleet to accommodate all requests - whether luxury celebrations of life or very simple burial at sea services. We have vessels for any budget.

This page has been provided to give an overview of our vessel types and what you can expect. The descriptions are general in nature, and you can always request detailed information on any vessel before making a reservation.

Photos of any vessel can be emailed to you.

ALL of our vessels are U.S. Coast Guard licensed and are safe and seaworthy. Life Jackets will be on board for all passengers. If you will be bringing a small child or infant, let us know so that we may provide child/infant life vests.

Excursion Vessels

Our excursion boats are well-suited for simple burial at sea services. They are not yachts (see below), but are very safe and economical. For example, some vessels may have diving oxygen tanks on board. Seating may be aluminum bench seating. Prices are considerably less on these vessels. Availability is often worked around the boats' other schedules to provide the lowest cost to you.

Do we use fishing vessels? Occasionally. However, these are not commercial fishing trawlers. Often, these boats are used in the off-season when no fishing is done on them. Fishing equipment would be removed. We've never conducted a memorial service aboard a boat that is filthy or has a bad odor and we have never had a complaint about this in our 10 years of serving families.

You will always have a choice of the type of vessel that you prefer.

Luxury Yachts and Cruisers

Very nice, comfortable boats/yachts with inside cushioned seating and other amenities such as stereo systems and DVD Players (not available on all vessels). From simple motor yachts to the luxury vessels with beverage service and bar, we have a variety of vessels to serve you. Generally speaking, services last a minimum of 2 hours.

Our yachts have a maximum capacity of passengers which varies from vessel to vessel. Please ask about maximum capacity vs. recommended capacity for your comfort.
