Burial at Sea Services We Offer
|
You Cannot Go Back and Do It Over.
Some may feel it is difficult to say, but it is true, this moment only happens once. Our hope is that you are able to honor your loved one in a way that brings you peace, not only today, but for years to come. When you look back on this occasion, we want you to feel confident that you gave thoughtful care to celebrating a life well lived. Is there a “wrong” way to conduct a service? Certainly not. Every family is different. However, the only real mistake would be not giving this moment the thoughtful consideration and conversation it deserves. Taking time to reflect together ensures that everyone feels heard and that the service truly represents the life being honored. We offer a variety of service options designed to meet your family’s individual needs, without compromising your wishes, your budget, or your traditions. We can accommodate nearly any reasonable request, no matter how small or unique. If you do not see exactly what you are looking for on our website, we encourage you to reach out through our Contact Us form and share your vision with us. In the rush of arrangements, it can be easy to underestimate the value of gathering after the loss of a loved one. We gently remind families that coming together, sharing memories, and honoring a life is not only meaningful, it is an essential part of the healing process. |
Create a Healing ExperienceSince 1997, we have had the privilege of serving families from all walks of life, each with their own wishes, traditions, and special requests. Over the years, we have learned that what matters most is not how simple or elaborate a ceremony may be — it is that the service brings together the hearts and minds of those who loved them.
When families gather with intention, the ceremony becomes more than a farewell. It becomes a gift — a gift of shared memories, a gift of healing, and ultimately, a priceless gift of peace of mind. We strongly encourage and support family-led services. There is something profoundly meaningful about loved ones guiding the moment themselves. To assist you, every family we serve receives our Guide to Planning a Family-Led Service, thoughtfully designed to help you create a tribute that feels personal, respectful, and true to the life being honored. |
Unattended ServicesWe've been handling the dignified disposition of ashes since 1997. Sometimes, the family cannot attend. An unattended service involves you sending or bringing to us the ashes of your loved one, allowing us to scatter them the next time we go out on the water. We usually scatter the ashes within a week to 30 days of receipt. We even offer a phone call on the day we are going out to scatter the ashes. See "Sending Ashes" for more information.

View From the Shore

What does a "view from the shore" service look like? What can families expect? Captain Ken explains in this 3 minute video recorded off the coast of San Diego: Watch
This service allows you to view the scattering of your loved one's ashes from a local beach or pier, while we perform the ceremony from the vessel. You can even watch the service being performed from a surfboard using our Paddle-Out service. |

Full Body Burial at SeaWest Coast and East Coast
Sometimes called "whole body burial at sea," this type of service is usually scheduled through your funeral home. Unlike cremains, with a whole body, there is a time constraint in performing the service. We use the Pacific Coast Shroud pictured here. We must go to a depth of 600 feet, although we usually go where it is at least 1,000 feet deep. The travel distance and time will differ from each port of departure as the depth of the ocean floor varies from place to place. |
