Have funeral and/or burial costs caught you off guard?
Take advantage of crowdfunding to assist you with the expenses. It is usually free to open an account, and each service will deduct a small percentage of your collections. What is crowdfunding? Crowdfunding is a method of raising capital through the collective effort of friends and family. What are some crowdfunding services that I can trust? 1. The most popular and trusted crowdfunding service is Gofundme. Gofundme is based in San Diego and Menlo Park. GoFundMe was launched on May 10, 2010 and has quickly become the World’s #1 fundraising site for personal causes and life-events. Millions of people have raised over $1 Billion in the past 365 days. To find out more and create an account, visit Gofundme.com 2. Another crowdfunding service specifically for funeral expenses is Funeralfund. "Funeral Fund started out as a personal website for our founder Michael and his family. Michael lost his father to cancer in 2011. With medical bills continuing to mount, it left his family with very limited resources for a proper funeral. Asking for help is never easy, so Michael turned to Social Media as a means to connect with family, friends and co-workers who knew his father. After numerous phone calls, text messages, emails, Tweets and Facebook posts, they were able to gather enough money for the funeral that his loving father truly deserved. Michael saw how beneficial a site like Funeral Fund would be for other families in the same situation. Funeralfund.com has become a huge success thanks to his dedicated team, Elijah, Carrol, Ayako, and many others who have helped along the way." The number one benefit is COST - According to AARP, the average (U.S.) cost of a traditional funeral is more than $7,000. If you want to be buried in the ground, this can add an additional $2,400. Even direct cremation with a land burial can be as much as $3,000.00 or more. You can visit AARP's website and search for articles regarding funeral costs. A simple, Direct Cremation and burial at sea can cost as little as $495.00, depending on the firm you choose do perform the cremation. Remember to ask for all details. Direct Cremation can mean different things at each mortuary or funeral home. Ask what the lowest price direct cremation includes, and if there are any additional costs. The direct cremation cost at one company we looked at ranged in price from $395.00 to $1045.00, without the scattering at sea. Ashes on the Sea charges only $295.00 for an unattended burial at sea. You can send the ashes to us, and we scatter them in a dignified manner. There are no hidden charges. You can obtain the permit if you would like to save on costs, otherwise, if needed, we can obtain it for you ($69). We'll send you the longitude and latitude afterward for your files. Please see Our Services for more details. Our attended scattering at sea starts at only $495.00 and includes the boat charter and assistance for every step of the way in making your plans. Peace Not only is the cost difference a benefit, but Cremation and Burial at Sea is usually a simpler plan. There are many, many details that go along with a traditional funeral and land burial that involve time and expense on everyone's part. Stress over these things can be greatly reduced by choosing scattering at sea. Time Another benefit is time. With cremation, you do not have to schedule the burial immediately since there is no body. Some families want to schedule a service right away, but others are not ready and they call us even years after the death has occurred. We recommend researching all of your options, including reading the Consumer Guide to Funeral and Cemetery Purchases to see how you can lessen your cost and anxiety surrounding your loved one's burial. We will be happy to talk with you regarding any of these points to help you come to a decision. |
